We all want to accomplish BIG goals and take the consistent actions necessary to achieve them.
But even the most disciplined people will agree, this is one of the hardest things to actually do.
So how do you REALLY commit to something… without giving up, getting distracted, or falling off track?
A new habit… a specific routine… or kicking an old bad habit to the curb.
The answer is found in my #1 Commitment Hack:
Create a visible reminder of your commitment that you see constantly.
The daily demands of Higher Ed can pull your focus in a hundred different directions. That’s why visual reminders are so important—they help you stay locked in on what matters most.
Here are some simple ways to make this work:
- Sticky Notes in Key Locations – Put a note on your desk, in your planner, or on your computer with a phrase that keeps you focused.
- Office Message – Post your most important goal or outreach target where you’ll see it every day.
- Phone Lock Screen – Change your phone’s home screen to a word or phrase that reminds you of your mission.
- Password Reminders – Use a phrase as your password that reinforces your focus.
- Email Signature – Add a motivational quote, your professional mission, or a key phrase in your email signature. Every time you send a message, you’ll reinforce what’s most important and hold yourself accountable.
When you see your goal every day, you’re more likely to stay committed. Admissions work is about consistency, and these reminders keep you on track.
Whatever you’re working toward—increasing enrollment, improving communication, refining your outreach strategies—constant reminders pay off!
